The Sidetrack Bar and Grill in Ypsi
Saturday night we were both kind of tired and grumpy- one of us had just spent 4 hours on a commuter flight and the other had driven around and around Metro airport for a half hour- and we were both hungry, so we stopped at the Sidetrack Bar and Grill in Ypsilanti's Depot Town for a snack. We figured being a bar they'd still be serving food, as it was nearly 9pm.
I'd never been there, and was expecting your typical bar and grill, but I was very pleasantly surprised by a lovely place with an outdoor patio (where we ate) and good food. The menu has a wide range of unusual dished- beer batter pickles (a house specialty), sweet potato fries, tempeh burgers, black bean burgers, goat cheese quesadillas, Irish cole slaw- as well as the burgers and sandwiches you'd expect. We had the fried perch- good fish with a light breadcrumb coating- and the 1/3rd pound burger. Both were excellent, and I have no doubt we will be back soon. (56 East Cross Street, Ypsilanti 48198)
